How to arrive to Colonia from Buenos Aires

Best way to travel to Colonia del Sacramento is through Buenos Aires, Argentina. From Buenos Aires, one can take a boat (company name: Buquebus) to Colonia. Buquebus will have a reduced fare for participants; we will inform about this later. There are two boats: the faster one (1 hour trip) and the slower one (3 hours trip). Standard fares (one way) are: 89 argentinian pesos with the fast boat and 51 arg. pesos with the slow boat. 1 arg. peso = 0.34 dollars approx.

TIMETABLE:
Chek-in begins 2hours before departure.

Buquebus tickets and reservations

The Buquebus ferry is a rather large ship and it is not strictly necessary to make reservations in advance --today there are still more than 800 unocuppied places at the ships required by the participants--. Once the participant arrives to Colonia, with the presentation of the ticket and a proof of the participation at the XVI Cla --we will issue the necessary documents at registration time-- at the Buquebus office in Colonia, a small reinbursement can be obtained.

From Buenos Aires International Airport (Ezeiza):

Buses "Manuel Tienda Leon" leave from Ezeiza to downtown every 30 minutes. It takes about 45 minutes to arrive to "plaza Retiro", besides Sheraton Hotel. Once at the bus stop, you are 500 meters away from Buquebús. However, the walking path is not very nice, and we suggest to take a taxi.

From Buenos Aires Local Airport (Aeroparque Jorge Newbery):

You can take bus number 33 up to "Avenida Alem and Avenida Cordoba". It costs 0.80 arg. pesos; you must have coins to pay it. You can take otherwise a taxi for about 10 arg. pesos.

Lockers at puerto Madero, Buenos Aires (Buquebus)

Please note that Buquebus has no lockers at the seaport. If you have to spend some hours at Buenos Aires, we suggest to leave your luggage at Manuel Tienda Leon terminal. It's a free service (for passengers) and they are open until 11:00 pm.

From Montevideo Airport (Carrasco):

You are in the "correct" side of the river, so you do not take the boat. You must take first a bus to Montevideo bus terminal "Terminal de Tres Cruces" and from there a second bus to Colonia. There are several companies doing the trip: http://www.tushopping.com.uy/tc/
